Registered Massage Therapy

I have been a Halifax based massage therapist for almost 20 years. I have a passion for holding space and providing treatments that address muscle imbalances and energetic blockages. I am fascinated with the human body, it's inner wisdom, and capacity for self-healing. I am committed to providing a safe container within my clinic space which encourages relaxation and restoration. I treat each client with professional care, attention, and an individual experience that leaves one feeling spacious, calm, and empowered.

"Alison is a dream. She's a natural healer and just an overall positive presence. Every time I'm in her space I feel warm and blessed. I have arthritis and thus have chronic pain. Alison is the one practitioner I've followed over the years who truly helps me manage it. -jayme"

"Alison certainly has perfected her craft of massage therapy. Never have I had such a comprehensive treatment, she literally attends from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Her treatment room is the epitome of peace but if you feel inclined to chat Alison is a kind and attentive listener. - Kathleen"

FAQ's

What can I expect from my first treatment?

It is normal to feel nervous for your first massage therapy session. I will ask you where you would like me to focus your massage, and offer suggestions that will cater to your needs. Most clients opt for a full body massage: legs, arms, back, neck and shoulders, or just a back, head and neck massage. I will instruct you on how to get on the table and what to wear according to your comfort level. I will leave the room and allow time for you to get set up and comfortable. You will be covered by sheets except for the area that I am massaging. It is important to remember that communication is important. I will ask your comfort level throughout the treatment and the option to stop or modify the treatment is always available.

What is the cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice to cancel a treatment, otherwise you will need to pay in full. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances. Please feel free to reach out if you need to cancel or re-book your treatment.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for my insurance policy?

Every insurance policy is different. I can direct bill most insurance companies, but it is best to check with your individual provider to see what percentage they cover and if they require a medical referral.

How often should I have a treatment?

We will discuss a treatment plan after your first massage. Some clients like to come in for preventive care, booking every 3-6 weeks. If you have an acute injury or a flareup, I will often encourage a series of treatments to address the issue and get you on your path to recovery quickly and efficiently.

Do you offer prenatal treatments?

Yes! II have worked as a Birth Attendant for many years and I love treating prenatal clients. I do not have a pregnancy table, but I have extra pillows and supports available to aid in your comfort for the duration of your treatment. I also offer in-home, postpartum massages. Please reach out if you would like more information on this service.

What do you accept for payment?

I can direct bill most Canadian insurance companies. I also accept cash, debit, credit cards and I have gift cards available for purchase.

"I admire Alison’s way of integrating spirit into her sessions in a way that can be felt, understood and integrated by all. I leave her office upgraded and feeling more connection to both myself and all-that-is, every time. I have recommended Alison to several people already and will continue to do so.” -mairi
